The Government of Ghana has joined other nations and international organizations, including the United Nations (UN) and the African Union (AU), in strongly condemning Israel’s unprovoked attack on the sovereign State of Qatar.

In a press statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ghana expressed deep concern over the attack, which resulted in casualties and destruction of property, describing it as a violation of international law and an affront to Qatar’s sovereignty.

“The Government of the Republic of Ghana condemns the attack in view of the fact that the airstrikes constitute a clear violation of international law and an affront to the sovereignty of the State of Qatar,” the statement read. It further noted that the incident undermines ongoing peace efforts between Israel and Palestine.

President John Dramani Mahama conveyed Ghana’s solidarity to the Emir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, through official diplomatic channels. The statement emphasized that Ghana stands firmly with the people of Qatar during this difficult time.

Beyond condemnation, Ghana urged dialogue and renewed commitment to a peaceful settlement of the broader Middle East conflict. “Ghana continues to urge dialogue, diplomatic rapprochement, respect for international law, commitment to the two-state solution, and the release of all hostages,” the statement added.

Ghana also commended Qatar for its tireless commitment to peace efforts in the region and appealed that the incident should not derail ongoing negotiations for a peaceful diplomatic resolution.
