President Chakwera vows unyielding search for missing plane carrying Vice-President Chilima
President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has assured the nation that the search and rescue mission for the missing plane carrying Vice President Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima and nine others has not been suspended.
Speaking during a national address at Kamuzu Palace, President Chakwera emphasized that all available resources are being utilized to locate the aircraft and its passengers.
President Chakwera urged Malawians to rely on updates from the Malawi Defence Force (MDF), which he has instructed to continue the search and rescue operation until the plane is found. He has also mandated the MDF to provide regular updates to prevent misinformation.
In addition to mobilizing national resources, President Chakwera has reached out to neighboring countries and international partners, including the US, UK, Norway, and Israel, seeking support and specialized technology to enhance the search efforts.
The President called on the nation to unite in prayer for the safe return of Vice President Chilima and the others on board: Lukas Kapheni, Chisomo Chimaneni, Gloria Mtukule, Shanil Dzimbiri, Dan Kanyemba, Abdul Lapukeni, Colonel Sambalopa, Major Selemani, and Major Aidin.
This continued commitment reflects the government’s dedication to finding the missing aircraft and ensuring the safety of its passengers.
