Gambia: President Barrow receives key national dialogue report, pledges inclusive governance, constitutional reform

President Adama Barrow has received the report on the first phase of the National Dialogue from the Preparatory Committee at the State House.

This landmark initiative, a first in The Gambia under President Barrow’s administration, aims to foster unity and address pressing national issues.


During the presentation, President Barrow underscored the pivotal role of dialogue in forging consensus among the Government, political parties, and civil society organizations. He emphasized that this collaborative approach is crucial for identifying and tackling issues of national importance.

Reaffirming his dedication to the dialogue’s outcomes, Barrow assured that the government would thoroughly review and implement the committee’s recommendations.

He highlighted the administration’s ongoing commitment to religious tolerance, vowing equal treatment for all faiths within the nation.

In a move towards strengthening democratic governance, President Barrow revealed that the Cabinet has been diligently reviewing the 2020 Draft Constitution. This key document is slated to be presented to the National Assembly for enactment, marking a significant step in The Gambia’s constitutional reform process.

The National Dialogue, under the theme “Collective Responsibility of Preserving the Nation, Safeguarding the State, and Securing our Resources,” stands as a testament to President Barrow’s vision of inclusive governance and national unity.
