Nationwide protest demands end to hunger, bad governance in Nigeria

The All Workers Convergence (AWC) has rallied Nigerians to join in a nationwide protest against the prevailing issues of hunger, hardship, and bad governance in the country. In a letter addressed to the nation, the AWC emphasized the importance of the protest for the betterment of the public and declared their unwavering commitment to the planned demonstration.

The National Coordinator of AWC, Comrade Andrew, signed a statement outlining the objectives of the protest. The primary aims include putting an end to hunger, alleviating hardship, and combating the prevalent bad governance in Nigeria. The AWC firmly believes that protest is a collective duty in a situation like theirs, and it is crucial for Nigerians to actively participate.

The statement highlights the distressing state of affairs in the country, with the people suffering from pain, hunger, hardship, and even resorting to suicide. The government’s poor governance and implementation of anti-people policies have exacerbated the situation, leaving the citizens disillusioned and without hope.

According to Comrade Andrew, the concentration of wealth in the hands of a few while the majority remains impoverished is an unacceptable reality. The AWC firmly asserts that they will not remain idle as the situation deteriorates further. They criticize the governance under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, claiming that it has brought untold hardship to the people, and even suggesting that it has collapsed.

The AWC calls for massive participation from all sectors of society, seeking the solidarity of organizations such as the NLC/TUC, religious leaders, royal fathers, workers, traders, parents, students, celebrities, civil society organizations, and movements like Take It Back (TIB) and #EndSARS. They also emphasize the importance of ensuring the safety of protesters and adhering to international laws that protect their rights.

The nationwide protest serves as a reminder to those in power that the citizens demand change. It is a collective effort to liberate Nigeria from the clutches of backwardness and pave the way for a better future. The AWC urges all Nigerians to unite and mobilize for this crucial demonstration, as they continue their fight against hunger, hardship, and bad governance.
