Ecowas, Guinea launch national coordination centre for early warning and security response

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the Republic of Guinea officially launched the National Coordination Centre for the Early Warning and Response Mechanism for Security Risks in Conakry on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.

The launch was presided over by ECOWAS Vice-President, Her Excellency Mrs. Damtien Tchintchibidja, and Guinea’s Prime Minister, His Excellency Mr. Mamadou Oury Bah. The event brought together representatives from the Guinean government, technical and financial partners including the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) and the European Union (EU), the United Nations, civil society organizations, and security experts.

The Centre, a product of close collaboration between ECOWAS and Guinea, forms part of a regional early warning system aimed at detecting, analyzing, and preventing crises that could impact lives and stability. It also underscores Guinea’s commitment to a collective regional strategy for resilience and security.
