Breaking News: Crescent Moon Sighted in Saudi Arabia, Eid Al-Adha Set for June 6
In a significant development for the global Muslim community, the crescent moon marking the beginning of Dhul Hijjah 1446 AH has been sighted in Saudi Arabia.
As a result, the first day of Dhul Hijjah begins tonight, Tuesday, May 27, 2025.

Day of ‘Arafah: Thursday, June 5, 2025
Eid Al-Adha: Friday, June 6, 2025

Dhul Hijjah is the 12th and final month in the Islamic lunar calendar. It is most renowned for hosting the annual pilgrimage of Hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam, and the festival of Eid Al-Adha, the second and holier of the two Islamic Eids.
The Day of ‘Arafah, which falls on the 9th of Dhul Hijjah, is the peak of Hajj when pilgrims gather on the plains of Arafah to supplicate, marking the most significant ritual of the pilgrimage. It is also a highly recommended day of fasting for Muslims not performing Hajj.
Eid Al-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command. It is marked by communal prayers, the sacrifice of animals, and acts of charity.
