Japanese PM, Ghanaian president push for UN Security Council reforms

The Japanese Prime Minister, Kishida Fumio and Ghanian President Nana Akufo-Addo have pushed for the United Nations Security Council reforms.

Fumio arrived in Ghana as part of his African tour, where he met with Akufo-Addo. The two leaders expressed their commitment to pursuing reforms at the United Nations Security Council.

Both Japan and Ghana currently serve as non-permanent members of the Security Council.

President Akufo-Addo emphasized that the existing permanent members of the Security Council do not accurately reflect the current global reality and stressed the need for reform.

The leaders also agreed to closely coordinate their efforts on the ongoing military clashes in Sudan, which have persisted for three weeks.

Prime Minister Fumio expressed his hope that this visit would enhance cooperation between Japan and Ghana in various areas, including the economy, development, and human resources.

The leaders discussed the importance of strengthening ties and working together to address common challenges.
