Gomez commends President Barrow for supporting varsity project success

In a recent press conference held at the University of The Gambia’s Faraba Banta Campus, Gomez, a prominent figure in the educational sector, expressed heartfelt gratitude towards Adama Barrow, the President of The Republic of The Gambia.

Gomez lauded President Barrow’s unwavering support, which has played a pivotal role in ensuring the success of the ambitious project.


During the conference, Dr. Yusupha Touray, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science, and Technology (MoHERST), provided a comprehensive overview of the project, tracing its inception to the present day.

Dr. Touray underscored the importance of the effective utilization and responsible management of the state-of-the-art facilities by the University of The Gambia (UTG) as it transitions to its new campus.

In addition to acknowledging the President’s support, Hon. Gomez extended his gratitude to several key contributors who have been instrumental in the completion of Lot-1 of the project.

These included the contractor, SPML, the consultant, PACE, the Project Coordination Unit (PCU), all sub-contractors, MoHERST staff, UTG personnel, representatives from the media, and various other stakeholders.

Their collective efforts have culminated in reaching this significant milestone.

Notably, Gomez reserved a special place in his remarks for the community of Faraba Banta, emphasizing their exceptional support, unwavering commitment, and dedicated efforts throughout the project’s journey.

He particularly recognized the invaluable contributions of the community elders, leaders, and women, whose tireless dedication has significantly contributed to the project’s overall success.

The press conference served as a moment of reflection and celebration of the collaborative endeavors that have brought the Faraba Banta Campus project to its current stage.

The event highlighted the critical role played by stakeholders at all levels, underscoring their collective dedication to advancing education and infrastructure development in The Gambia.
