President Barrow inaugurates 48km North Bank Roads Project Lot 2 in Nyanija, CRR

Gambian President, Adama Barrow, marked a significant milestone on Saturday as he officially inaugurated the 48-kilometer North Bank Roads Project Lot 2 in Nyanija, Central River Region (CRR).

This ambitious road project encompasses vital communities, including Kaur Janneh Kunda, Kerr Gibbi, and Chamen, promising enhanced connectivity and improved transportation infrastructure.

In his inaugural statement, President Barrow underscored the meticulous planning and execution that went into the project, emphasizing its commitment to ensuring road safety.

He stated, “The design and implementation of the road project were very well thought through to accommodate all relevant road safety issues.”

A crucial aspect of the project is the comprehensive drainage system, designed to mitigate flooding and enhance the longevity of the roads.

President Barrow revealed, “I am happy to add that a total of fifty-three (53) box culverts and twenty (20) Irish crossings have been constructed to ensure a proper drainage system for all the roads in the project area. Shallow drains have been constructed as well to ease the flow of water from the road structure to outfalls.”

The inauguration of Lot 2 follows the earlier opening of Lot 1 just a few months ago. Lot 1’s completion significantly increased access to farmlands, agricultural facilities, and business enterprises, uplifting the socio-economic prospects of the region. With Lot 2 now operational, the entire North Bank Roads Project promises to be a catalyst for growth, offering improved transportation networks and better opportunities for the local communities.

Local residents and business owners expressed their gratitude for the road project, highlighting the positive impact it has had on their daily lives.

Many anticipate increased trade, enhanced access to markets, and a boost to tourism in the region.

The North Bank Roads Project remains a testament to the government’s commitment to infrastructure development and its dedication to improving the quality of life for citizens in the Central River Region and beyond.

As the project continues to unfold, it is expected to play a pivotal role in fostering economic growth and prosperity in the area.
