Nigeria: Pastor Adeboye’s claim of altering US weather faulted
Nigerian pastor, Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has stirred global attention with his recent assertions of divine weather manipulation during a trip to the United States.
In a viral video, Pastor Adeboye claimed that he petitioned God to suspend winter during his visit to Colorado. The video sparked widespread debate over the authenticity of his claims.
A few months ago, Pastor Adeboye made waves on social media after asserting that he had personally influenced the weather in the United States due to his aversion to cold climates.
“I was invited to Colorado in America in January. I don’t like cold weather at all. So I said to my father, I’m going to Colorado while I am there. Suspend winter,” recounted Adeboye to his followers, claiming that his request had transformed the climate to summer-like conditions.

However, these statements have been met with skepticism and criticism, with many dismissing them as unfounded and implausible.
Critics argue that such assertions contribute to the proliferation of false prophets across Africa, exploiting religious sentiments for personal gain.
The surge of self-proclaimed prophets across Africa, particularly in countries like Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, and Zimbabwe, reflects a broader trend of exploiting religious fervor amidst economic and social challenges.
Many of these charismatic figures leverage sensational claims to accrue wealth from followers, often under the guise of divine interventions.
The phenomenon of “prosperity gospel” and the pressure to give financial offerings, commonly known as seeding or tithing, has raised concerns about the exploitation of believers.
Some governments, like Rwanda, have taken stringent measures to regulate or ban miracle prophets altogether.
