Al-Qasabi leads delegation to Morocco, discusses enhancing commercial, investment relations

Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the General Authority for Foreign Trade Dr. Majid Abdullah Al-Qasabi, on a four-day official visit, has lead a government delegation to Morocco with the participation of officials from 12 government institutions and representatives from the private sector from over 60 Saudi companies.

Al-Qasabi on Monday is scheduled to meet with Moroccan Minister of Industry and Trade Eng. Ryad Mezzour to go over means to boost commercial and investment relations and to enable the private sector in the two countries to invest promising opportunities to increase the commercial exchange volume and develop investments.


During the visit, Al-Qasabi is also planned to participate in the Saudi-Moroccan Economic Forum to be held Tuesday with the participation of several businesspeople representing major companies in the two countries.

The visit will also see the signing of two memorandums of cooperation between the two countries on mutual accreditation of Halal certificates for local products, and a draft program for technical cooperation between the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization and the Moroccan Institute of Standardization.

The minister will also inaugurate the new headquarters of the Saudi Commercial Mission in Casablanca with the aim of developing relations, overcoming challenges facing the private sector, empowering the access of Saudi exports to new markets, and attracting qualitative investments that can contribute to boosting commercial exchange between the two countries.

The visit of the Saudi delegation also includes meetings with ministers and senior officials to discuss some pioneering projects in several fields.

The trade volume between the two countries exceeded SR5 billion in 2021, where mineral and plastic products topped the goods exported to Morocco, while clothes and vehicles and their spare parts topped Moroccan exports to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
