Suspected al-Shabaab militants have attacked a pub nearing military base in Lamu, Kenya. While disclosing this, Lamu county commissioner, Irungu Macharia, said there were no casualties. According to security reports, the 11pm incident happened in Mswakini village, approximately 500 meters from Baragoni military camp. It was reported that a wooden structure was partially damaged and part of iron roof blown away. “I’m not around so I don’t have full details yet but there were no injuries as they had closed and left,” he told country’s local news media on phone on Sunday. At the scene, responding security teams found leaflets with radical messages alleging to be authored by a- Shabaab terror group. The leaflets warn of more attacks in the county. It comes days after other leaflets which have been circulating since last weekend warned of such attacks. On Thursday, Macharia told the reporters that security had been beefed up in the county in the wake of attack threats. He asked members of public to volunteer information on suspicious activities.
