Botswana declares national afternoon off to honor Olympic champion Tebogo

His Excellency, Dr. Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi, President of the Republic of Botswana, has announced an extraordinary national holiday to honor the remarkable achievements of Mr. Letsile Tebogo, affectionately known as “Botswana’s Sensation.”

On Friday, August 9th, 2024, Batswana and residents will enjoy an afternoon off as a tribute to Tebogo’s groundbreaking accomplishment of becoming the first Motswana and the first African to win a Gold Medal in the 200m event at the Olympics.
