Egypt’s Minister of Finance, Ahmed Kouchouk, has highlighted the significant role blended finance plays in driving private investments in critical sectors such as logistics, port, and airport management. Kouchouk’s remarks came during a bilateral meeting with Zhongjing Wang, CEO of the Multilateral Cooperation Center for Development Finance (MCDF) in China, held on the sidelines of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) meetings in Uzbekistan.

The discussion between the two leaders centered on enhancing cooperation to promote sustainable development in developing countries, particularly amid the global economic challenges. Kouchouk emphasized that Egypt’s vision aligns with that of the MCDF, with both parties committed to supporting high-priority, sustainable projects. These initiatives, he noted, contribute to the Egyptian government’s broader action plan.

“Blended finance presents a unique opportunity to stimulate private sector investments in areas like logistics and infrastructure,” said Kouchouk. He also expressed interest in expanding the scope of MCDF to include more countries, both regionally and globally.
