Buikwe District officials urged to sustain progress in education, health
Government and local councils in Buikwe District have been called upon to build on the progress made in addressing school dropout rates and health challenges. The district has benefitted from significant support from World Vision for the past seventeen years, during which time over fifteen billion shillings were invested in education, health, and livelihood sectors. Now, with the conclusion of the Buikwe Area Projects, local authorities are tasked with ensuring that these achievements continue.
World Vision’s contributions have resulted in notable improvements, including increased school enrollment and enhanced healthcare services. With their exit, stakeholders are optimistic that the district leadership will step up to maintain and expand upon the established initiatives. The organization’s interventions have laid a solid foundation for growth, and district leaders are urged to implement policies that safeguard these gains.
Local councils have acknowledged the need to act swiftly, emphasizing that the sustainability of these efforts lies in strategic planning and resource allocation. They are encouraged to prioritize education by addressing the factors contributing to school dropouts and improving health infrastructure to combat rising health concerns. By doing so, the district can continue to thrive long after World Vision’s departure.
