Binance executive released by Nigerian court as charges are dropped

Binance released by Nigerian Court

Tigran Gambaryan, head of financial crime compliance at cryptocurrency company Binance, was released on Wednesday, October 23, by a Nigerian court.

Gambaryan had been in custody since February, facing accusations of money laundering involving $35 million.

The charges were dropped after the Nigerian government dismissed the case, reportedly due to diplomatic pressure from Washington.

Gambaryan was held at Kuje prison and is now expected to seek medical treatment overseas.

Although the charges against him have been withdrawn, Binance continues to face legal challenges, with a trial scheduled for November.

This is not the first legal issue for Binance, as the company has faced similar allegations, including failing to prevent transactions that benefited terrorist groups.
