Eguavoen calls 35 NPFL stars to strengthen Super Eagles for CHAN 2025 Ghana clash

Super Eagles Head Coach Augustine Eguavoen has announced a squad of 35 standout players from the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifying showdown against Ghana. The team will face off in a two-leg match, with the first leg set for the weekend of December 20-22, followed by a home fixture a week later.

Leading the list is Remo Stars’ promising right-back Ismail Sadiq, alongside Kano Pillars’ versatile midfielder Zulkifilu Rabiu and Enugu Rangers’ talented attacking midfielder Kazeem Ogunleye. NPFL top scorer Anas Yusuf from Nasarawa United also joins the squad, highlighting Eguavoen’s choice to harness Nigeria’s domestic talent for this important fixture.

The winner of the two-legged series will secure a place in the 8th edition of CHAN, a tournament dedicated to players who compete in their country’s domestic leagues, which will be hosted across Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania from February 1-28, 2025.

The Super Eagles’ selected players will convene in Abuja on October 29, aiming to strengthen team cohesion and strategy.

With Ghana narrowly edging Nigeria out in the last qualifiers, Eguavoen and the team are determined to reverse fortunes this year and bring the CHAN title home.
