Environmentalists prepare for South Korea conference on pollution
Ugandan environmentalists are urging the global community to adopt a robust stance on plastic pollution as the world gears up for the 5th Session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee on Plastics Pollution conference in South Korea.
The meeting, which aims to craft a legally binding international treaty, seeks to address the entire life cycle of plastics, from production to disposal.
Plastic pollution, a growing global crisis, has prompted Uganda’s environmental advocates to emphasize the urgent need for collective action to reverse its devastating impact.
“We cannot afford to delay any longer,” said Grace Akello, a Ugandan environmental activist. “The decisions made at this conference will determine the future of our planet and the health of generations to come.”
