Gambia shines on global stage with hosted UNGA side event
The Gambia has successfully hosted its first-ever exclusive high-level side event at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
This monumental event was orchestrated by the Permanent Mission of The Gambia and the Africa Agenda Network, garnering widespread acclaim for its focus on advancing peace, security, and the protection of human rights.
The illustrious gathering was graced by the presence of several distinguished dignitaries, including H.E Dr. Mamadou Tangara, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad; H.E Omar A Touray, President of the ECOWAS Commission; H.E Bineta Diop, African Union Special Envoy on Women Peace and Security; H.E Sheikh Shakhboot Bin Nahyan, State Minister of Africa Affairs from the United Arab Emirates; and H.E Boubakar Adamou, Director of African Affairs at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), among others.

H.E Lamin Dibba, Permanent Representative of The Gambia to the United Nations, and Mr. Saul Frazer, Chairman of the Africa Agenda Network, were among the notable speakers who highlighted The Gambia’s role in global diplomacy.
The event was expertly hosted by Mr. Amadou Jaiteh, Counsellor/Legal Adviser at the Permanent Mission of The Gambia to the United Nations, alongside Ms. Muna Jallow, CEO of the Africa Agenda Network.
“This event marks the beginning of significant accomplishments for The Gambia and Africa as a platform that amplifies the voices of innovative African leaders and showcases their contributions to global progress,” remarked a representative from the Africa Agenda Network.
The Africa Agenda Network remains steadfast in its mission to spotlight African achievements and amplify the voices of formidable leaders across various sectors. It aims to ensure that these leaders’ efforts are recognized globally, focusing on peace, security, and sustainable development. The network is dedicated to changing the narratives surrounding Africa by sharing stories of transformational development through an authentic African lens.
