Nigeria President reshuffles cabinet, merges ministries

President of Nigeria Bola Tinubu has reshuffles his ministerial cabinet and merges ministries during a Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday.

This reshuffling, as confirmed by Bayo Onanuga, the president’s spokesperson, reflects the government’s efforts to streamline administration.

According to Onanuga, the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and the Ministry of Sports Development have been dissolved. In their place, a new Ministry of Regional Development will be established to oversee the country’s regional commissions, including the Niger Delta Development Commission, the North West Development Commission, and others.

“The president and the Federal Executive Council have agreed to merge the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy,” Onanuga explained. He added that sports administration will now be handled by the National Sports Commission, taking over the responsibilities of the former Ministry of Sports.

These changes mark a significant shift in Tinubu’s approach to governance, aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of regional development and cultural promotion.

Further details on this development will be provided as the story unfolds.
