Cameroon launches nationwide polio vaccination drive over regional health concerns
In a concerted effort to tackle the rising threat of the polio myelitis Type 2 variant, health experts in Cameroon have embarked on a comprehensive four-day vaccination campaign, commencing on October 24th.
This initiative is a direct response to the recent outbreak observed in the Lake Chad and Sahel regions, which has raised concerns among health authorities.
The campaign is characterized by its extensive reach and strategic targeting of various community hubs.
Vaccination teams are diligently visiting schools to ensure that children receive the necessary immunization. In addition to educational institutions, the teams are extending their efforts to high-traffic areas such as markets and parks, as well as residential zones including homes and places of worship like churches.
