Hotel collapse kills 1 person, traps 8 under debris

A hotel in the picturesque town of Kroev, Germany, has partially collapsed near the banks of the Moselle River, resulting in one fatality and leaving eight individuals trapped under the debris.

The tragic event unfolded approximately 100 kilometers west of Frankfurt, sending shockwaves through the local community.

Emergency responders, including firefighters and paramedics, rushed to the scene, launching a desperate search and rescue operation for those trapped inside the multi-story building.

Reports indicate that several people managed to escape the wreckage on their own and are now receiving care from emergency services and mental health counselors.

Images from the scene depict the extent of the destruction, with large sections of the building reduced to rubble, concrete debris littering the ground. The situation was complicated by the structural instability of the building, which initially prevented fire brigade teams from entering to conduct their rescue efforts.

In response to the unfolding crisis, authorities evacuated neighboring buildings as a precautionary measure, fearing they too might be at risk of collapse.
