Senegal legislative election results announced, Takku Wallu leader to resign MP mandate

The Constitutional Council has officially proclaimed the final results of Senegal’s legislative elections, held on November 17, 2024. In a statement following the announcement, the leader of the Takku Wallu Senegal coalition, who led the party’s electoral list, expressed heartfelt gratitude to voters for their support.

The leader praised Senegalese citizens for their strong commitment to democracy, peace, and stability, which continue to define the nation’s political landscape. Highlighting the significance of the democratic process, they reiterated their appreciation for the trust placed in the coalition and congratulated all Senegalese on maintaining the country’s long-standing democratic traditions.

As pledged during the campaign, the coalition leader confirmed their intention to resign from the parliamentary mandate at the opening of the next legislative assembly. This decision, they stated, is in line with legal and ethical commitments made prior to the elections.

“I wish success to the newly elected members of parliament,” they concluded, emphasizing the need for national unity, peace, and cohesion as Senegal continues its democratic journey.

The Takku Wallu Senegal coalition, among other political parties, played a pivotal role in the election, reflecting the vibrant multiparty democracy that characterizes the nation.
